Eliminate Wind Load Damage & Maintenence

Ball Fabrics, Inc. announces ExtremeScreen®80 (patent pending) after more than a decade of research and development, the breakthrough new windscreen that greatly reduces wind load damage, virtually eliminating the cost of labor and maintenance from high winds.

Anyone responsible for maintaining a facility that includes windscreen knows the perils of wind damage, and the costly man hours necessary to constantly replace ty-raps, torn windscreen, and even downed fences as a result of high wind events. Now there is a simple, efficient, attractive, solution that has been proven effective in Florida facilities which face some of the most challenging wind situations in the country.

“Windscreens are not created equal,” explained Larry Ball, CEO at Ball Fabrics. “They consist of various different raw materials, construction patterns, and finishes. Some are more durable than others, some are more fade resistant, some provide more or less visibility. We have always carried a wide variety of some of the most attractive and most resilient windscreens on the market. But, until now, no one has ever had an answer for the problems caused by moderate to high winds.”

Ball explained that the unique patent pending construction gives ExtremeScreen80™ increased material strength and superior air permeability compared to other 80 percent opacity windscreens.. As a result, ExtremeScreen®80 reduces wind load on fasteners, grommets, and the fence by more than 40 percent resulting in less maintenance and longer lasting windscreen.

“We’ve had this product up on fences in several Florida facilities for almost a year, waiting to see if it would perform to the degree we expected,” he continued. “We knew it was a very good product, but it has exceeded even our expectations.”

For example, at Heathrow Country Club in central Florida, the frequent strong thunderstorms would blow through breaking ty-raps and ripping windscreen off the tennis court fences. Not only did this cause a massive maintenance problem, replacing ty-raps every day, but windscreen falling off the fence is not a good look for a beautiful facility with high end tennis courts.

“Mornings were pure havoc,” said Barry Myers, Director of Tennis at Heathrow. “People would be waiting to play and we were frantically putting windscreen back on the fence. After we replaced the windscreen on all 12 courts with ExtremeScreen, maintenance has been reduced to almost nothing. In 12 months, no broken ty-raps, no flapping windscreen. This windscreen is a labor savor. It handles high winds better than any windscreen I have ever seen. I come to the courts after a huge thunderstorm and my courts look great, people can get on them to play, and I don’t have to go rescue the windscreen.”

Michael Baker, CPRP at Boombah Soldiers Creek Park, is more than satisfied with the performance of ExtremeScreen®80 at his facility. “Since installing ExtremeScreen on two of our six fields, the maintenance has been fantastic…because there hasn’t been any! We have had zero zip ties break and no issues with any seams or grommets. This has saved us a ton of staff hours and allows us to get a lot more done at the park. The product looks sharp and the custom logo really pops. We have had a ton of positive feedback from our customers on how professional it looks. We are looking forward to getting at least two more of our fields done when our new fiscal year begins.”

Just a few short miles inland from the Atlantic ocean, Pictona at Holly Hill’s 24 pickleball courts take a beating from the elements. Rainer Martens, founder of the facility, chose ExtremeScreen®80 to cover more than 1,000 feet of perimeter fencing. “The windscreen on those fences has held up perfectly,” he says, when asked about the frequent high winds that buffet his facility. “We haven’t had a bit of maintenance associated with those perimeter fences.”

Woody Galbreath, Director of Sports Complex at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, has been running athletic facilities for longer than 28 years in Florida’s harsh environment. “After much research,” he explained, “searching for a windscreen that would hold up to the abuse of Florida wind, sun, and irrigation chemicals, I found Ball Fabrics. They truly care about every customer, as if it was their first. They recommended we install ExtremeScreen on our baseball field and I couldn’t be happier with the result. We have had zero torn grommets or broken zip ties thanks to the superior airflow of the material. We have since installed ExtremeScreen on our softball, soccer, and track facilities.”

ExtremeScreen®80 is backed by a full 7 year warranty, which is the best in the business. It provides 80 percent opacity and is a knitted high density polyethylene. It will not dry rot or become brittle. And it is only available through Ball Fabrics, Inc. or a Ball Fabrics distributer.
